The most interesting thing that I found out in doing these blogs is how much I was setting myself up for a heart attack. My “so called” favorite dish was killing my body slowly, with the salt rising my blood presser and the chicken clogging my arteries, I was bound to have heart problems in my later years. I found this to be interesting because it’s not to late for me to do something about this by making a far changes to my favorite dish.

Doing blog 8, if I were to pick an argument either for or against my favorite meal being healthy I would have to go against. When doing my research for my last blog, I seen that the only healthy food I had in my favorite meal was the mash potatoes and black pepper, but as far as the fired chicken and salt goes, they are just heart attack on the side. With the salt raising the blood presser and the tran fat form the chicken clogging up the arteries, there no way that this dish can be healthy.

In this blog we are to post comments that other writer have on our favorite meal. so let start off with fried chicken. at furtherhealth.com it talks about how the Tran fat from the chicken can clog up your arteries. here a quote;

"So the next time that you feel like tucking into a portion of fried chicken at your favourite fast food outlet, think of those trans fats circulating in your blood until they find a place to land on one of your artery walls, slowly clogging up your arteries".

The news that i found on mash potatoes was much better. in an article call "the power of the poptatoes" they talk about the benefit that the poptatoes gives, here a quote;

"Potatoes are not only fat- and cholesterol-free, they are also high in vitamin C and potassium. And with the skin, they're an excellent source of fiber".

now the next comment I found is on gravy, cbc.ca talks about some risks that may be found in gravy. here some of what they said:

"Consumers should avoid certain brands of chili and beef gravy because of a possible botulism risk, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has advised".

salt and pepper were the next two i research. No surprised that too much salt is not good for you. Here what the article “cutting salt ‘reduces heart risk’ ” said:

"Experts already know that too much salt can raise blood pressure and high blood pressure increases the risk of heart attack and stroke".

however, what was surprising to me was finding out the black pepper is good for you. here what the article "Black Pepper: More than Just Salt's Buddy" said:

"The benefits of black pepper exceed far beyond its ability to add great taste to a wide variety of dishes. Some scientific studies suggest that black pepper may have a number of important health benefits. One of the most important benefits is the abilty to improve digestion and aid the digestive system and intestines".

from this research it seems like the only thing that's good from me is the mash poptatoes and black pepper, hmm, makes me think twice

blog 5-7

The ingredients that I uses in my meal comes from many different places. In the blog before wrote how the mash potatoes come from Orrville, Ohio, the chicken comes from Horsham, PA. The salt and pepper come from Maryland and the oil from Cordova, TN. Because all of these places are in America a lot of trucking is used to get the product from where they’re made to where we are. When I called up Perdue (1-800-992-7043) and ask how they get their products to places like New York, the answer that they gave me was trucking. The same was true for McCormick salt and pepper. They also truck as a way of distribution. And it’s no big surprise when I called Hungry Jack Company (1 888 767 7494) which is in Orrville, Ohio and found out that their also use trucking to get their products to New York. I never really think about how these foods end up in the supermarkets, I was just happy that it was there, but doing this blog I got to learn how it all goes about.

museum blog



One of the media that related to my experience at the museum is film. I seen the comparison of film with the exhibits that explained the evolution of humans. The way that the development of humans being were tracked gave me the feelings as of if I was in at the movies, there were even short films that shown the process. Today I have to talk about how the foods of my favorite meal is packaged, who produced it and where it comes from. Well to start off, the Chicken legs are packaged in a Styrofoam plate with a plastic cover. The producer is Perdue and their products are from Horsham, PA.
Next up is the mash potatoes. This food comes in a cardboard box, the producer is Hungry Jack and it is made in Orrville, Ohio.
The oil that is used in this meal comes in a Plastic bottle, its producer is Mazola and their company is in Cordova, TN.
And the salt and pepper comes in a plastic can, its producer is McCormick and the company is in Maryland 21031
